Pointers and ideas required

I tried to reproduce the problem based on the provided information by creating a simple sample of page containing hierarchical WebGrid. The hierarchical data is bind through the InitializeDataSource server-side event and the “Export” feature is enabled. However, my efforts were not successful – everything worked smoothly and the export feature (the export root and the export child table) was accessed without any issues.

The sample is enclosed as attachment. You need to add the sample in the WebGridSamples project in order to make the sample run-able.

I am willing to advise you further but in order to do so I would need you to elaborate on your specific scenario and possibly give us a running simple sample (you may modify my sample so that it reproduce the issue) and step-by-step guide that we can use to observe the problematic behavior.

Regarding the original question in the “Is it possible to export entire hierarchical grid?” thread that available in http://www.intersoftpt.com/Community/WebGrid/Is-it-possible-to-export-entire-hierarchical-grid/. As stated in my reply, in the current build version of WebGrid, it is not possible to export all tables (the root table and its child table) in one export activity. You can either export the root table or export the selected child table.

I may be able to help by submitting this as feature request to WebGrid development team.

Export Hierarchical Grid Data..

Hi,

( I have allready posted this question twice , but for some reason your forum isnt showing them.. )

We have a Hierarchical Grid that is bound and formatted from the code behind, but whenever a Export is tried, the "Export Selected Child Table" is grayed out and the function fails with a popup box saying

"Object Reference not set to an instance of an object"
(This is being shown after the call to OnExport override has been called and exits successfully)

I have also viewed this thread:

http://www.intersoftpt.com/Community/WebGrid/Is-it-possible-to-export-entire-hierarchical-grid/

Is there anything special we have to perform in OnExport and OnPrepareExportExecute ?

Can you please advise or give me some workarounds ?

David
